Lacey Harper’s Emergency Surgery and Recovery

Donation protected
I’m creating this GoFund Me on behalf of Lacey Harper!

on June 1, 2023 Lacey Harper went to the Winter Haven Hospital with pain that she has been having for quite sometime. They advised she had a bladder infection at that time they sent her home with antibiotics. She continued to work pushing through the pain, running a fever and feeling fatigue. She owns her own cleaning business where she works long hours, she does heavy lifting, she is up-and-down and she’s constantly on her feet. During the week of the 19th of June her Son had A Little League World Series Baseball Tournament in Clearwater Florida.
On the first day after having dinner with the team she suddenly experienced a sudden crippling pain. She continued on thinking she may have pulled a muscle but the pain increased significantly so she headed back to the hotel with her boys and a few of the teammates. She knew at that point she needed to go to the ER. She called her boys teammates to go down the hall and get their older sister to watch them. She called the parents to let them know she needed to go to the ER. She then called a Uber to get to the ER. When she arrived at the ER they checked her in and then pushed her to the furthest corner where she was unable to move herself. Once they called her to triage she knew she couldn’t get herself over there so she asked an employee to assist her but he ignored her. Another employee came over to move her to triage at that time the nurse asked her to get on the bed. she advised she was unable to even move, let alone lift herself onto the bed. The Gentleman lifted her up causing even more pain than she was already experiencing. After getting her info, vitals and what brought her in. She advised she had to go to the restroom at that time the gentleman took her to the restroom. He told her he would give her some privacy and he would be back in 15 minutes. She was done before 15 minutes. She called for him and then waited additional 20 minutes before pulling the emergency string to call the nurse. After 30+ minutes another patient’s family member heard her and assisted her. She told them she felt like she was going to pass out. The very helpful person told the staff but no one assisted until they called her name to go to the back to be seen which felt like a lifetime. once in the back she laid in bed for a few more hours feeling helpless and alone with no one to advocate for her. The nurse came in to take her to go down for CT where they learned She had a diverticulitis abscess rupture, causing a hole in her stomach at that time. The CT tech rubbed her shoulder gently then said we are going to get you help and you are going to be OK. Finally some compassion after 5+ hours of being in pain They finally found the issue and administer pain meds. She underwent emergency surgery to remove her appendix and part of her colon. She has been in the hospital since the 21st of June. Today is the 29th of June. She is unable to eat, drink, move out of the bed, sit up/down or even walk, she is barely able to talk as she is in pain and winded. She currently has a drainage pouch along with a catheter. She is in excruciating pain, she is in the hospital all alone, away from her boys and unable to communicate as much as she would like. She has not been able to see her sons or to see her sons team play in the baseball World Series tournament. The Coach, Coaches Wife and a close Family Friend have been helping with her boys while she has been in the hospital by herself over a week. She is over two hours away from home. She is self-employed so her income is the only income in the home. She doesn’t have any medical benefits to help with her being out of work already a week. Now the doctor is saying she could be in the hospital even longer than 3 to 6 weeks. He said the recovery at home will be an additional four months at that time she will have to go back and forth to the doctor till he can release her. she has normal bills, now medical bills, prescriptions and for unforeseen bills. If you could find it in your heart to make a donation to a single mother and her boys to help with her recovery such as her normal bills, prescriptions, medical bills, unforeseen bills and food for them since she is unable to cook. If you’re unable to donate please share this GoFundMe and say a prayer for her and her boys. She is forever Grateful for all the donations, Prayers and help at this time.

Thank you,

Audrey on behalf of Lacey Harper and her boys.
