Lacey's Lymphnode Transfer Surgery
Donation protected
Lacey was diagnosed with Lymphedema in her right leg in 2010, which developed from a parasitic infection while on her honeymoon in Mexico. Since then, Lacey has suffered greatly and is in constant pain from the massive swelling. She was not able to finish playing college basketball, she was no longer able to work, she was no longer able to care for herself the same way, and was no longer able to wear normal shoes or clothes due to the sheer size of her leg.
Lacey's husband Cory helps her with tasks that have become difficult for her such as bending, squatting, and kneeling, as well as taking care of their two sons, Jaxx and Boone. Lacey is determined to get her life back on track and refuses to give into this disease which is slowly crippling her.
Lacey has began trying to play sports again, has began taking online classes to benefit a future hopeful career in special needs education, and has began the journey of a Lymph Node Transfer Surgery that could potentially reduce swelling anywhere from 30% to 80% in her leg. At this point, the surgery is the only thing giving Lacey hope for her future.
The donations given will go towards her surgery, traveling expenses, and therapy. The surgery is very expensive and isn't covered by insurance since her condition is deemed cosmetic. This will help her and her family greatly as she goes back and forth for consultations, pre-surgery, surgery, post surgery, and therapy follow ups in Chicago.
