Lachlan’s Fight To Recovery

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I say on the 7th of September my brother Lachlan Duffey was enjoying an afternoon on the beach with his mates 4wd where an unfortunate accident occurred. This has resulted in Lachlan receiving severe, life threatening injuries.

As of date, Lachlan received urgent medical attention at the Rockhampton Based Hospital, where it was found that he has a broken C3, C4 and C7, which has resulted in him having to be flown to Brisbane in an induced coma to continue with life saving treatment.

At present, Lachlan is in the Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane. This will be a lengthy, unknown stay at this point in time. Doctors have stated a minimum of 2 years. Unfortunately, he is still in an induced coma as they try to stabilise all the life threatening fractures and breaks to his neck and spine.

I have started this GoFund Me to help assist my brother and mum, as best I can. Unfortunately, to assist mum financially to the best of my ability, I am still required to go to work but unfortunately due to this, mum is unable to work so she can be by my brothers side and support him in this hard time.

As you can imagine, this is a very concerning and trying time for all of our family and friends involved. My mum is currently by Lachlan’s side 24/7 which is causing financial stress with all the accumulating medical bills and accommodation, transport and daily living expenses for her to be by my brothers side.

I wish for everyone to take into consideration that this is a very hard and emotional time for all of us and wish that everyone please be considerate who knows Lachlan that at this time, family are unable to reply to all phone calls or messages.
