Lachlan's Kidney Journey- A family's hope

Dear friends and supporters,

I come to you today with a heavy heart, seeking your kindness and generosity during a challenging time for my family. My son, Lachlan, a brave 3-year-old, has been battling end-stage renal failure since he was just 4 months old. Our days have been filled with administering PD dialysis at home for 12 and a half hours every day, drs appointments, allied health appointments along with numerous hospital stays totaling over 25 admissions.

Last September, our world was turned upside down when Lachlan's PD dialysis suddenly stopped working, leading to a diagnosis of peritonitis infection. This unexpected turn of events forced us to uproot our lives and move to the Children's hospital in Brisbane, far from our home in Toowoomba, where we had to face this new challenge as a family.

Despite our hopes for a quick recovery, Lachlan's infection persisted, and complications arose, ultimately requiring a switch to Hemo dialysis. This change meant an extended stay in Brisbane, where I had to put my full-time job as a Youth worker on hold to help my wife provide round-the-clock care for Lachlan, support each other, and care for our other two young children.

Now, we stand at a critical juncture as Lachlan is in urgent need of a kidney transplant. While I had hoped to be the donor, unfortunately, medical constraints have presented a hurdle we didn't foresee. This journey has been filled with uncertainties and challenges, but your support and generosity can make a significant difference in our lives.

Any contribution, big or small, will go a long way in helping us navigate this difficult time and provide the best possible care for Lachlan. Your kindness and compassion mean the world to us, and we are forever grateful for your support during this trying period.
