Lacy’s Fight
Friends Michelle Cox and Lisa Rushing are asking for donations for their dear friend, Lacy Plaxico, a wife, mother and former RN BSN Charge Nurse at NMMC for her treatments at MD Anderson. Lacy was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in August of 2020. After surgery and seven months of chemo treatments and during this time she took a leave from her nursing career for 7 months. She was told she was in remission and even rang the bell for symbolized completion of treatments. She remained in remission for a month and a half and then was told the cancer had metastasized to her lungs, advancing her cancer to stage 4. Unfortunately now she is unable to return back to work. She was told she would receive chemo treatment for the rest of her life. With treatments, her life expectancy was given of 2-3 years by her current oncologist. She is seeking a 2nd opinion for other possible treatments and a better prognosis. MD Anderson is located in Dallas, TX and her and her husband, Alan will be traveling back and forth from Tupelo, MS. This funding is needed for travels, hotels and food for them as they make their way thru this journey. At the moment her health insurance which is self paid, is up in the air if coverage is going to be available. Any and all donations and prayers are much appreciated.
