On may 3rd my wife started stumbling in the morning. After she had fallen twice, she called the patient advisory nurse who advised her to make an appointment with her doctor. Her appointment was scheduled for 3pm. She walked to the car using a cane. After a short evaluation, the doctor sent her down to the er. After spending one and a half hours in the er she could no longer walk or feel anything from the waist down. They then sent her to Rochester by ambulance and checked her into the neurology care unit. After MRI, EMG and multiple blood tests and visits from multiple doctors from neurology, psychiatry, PT, and OT they concluded to the best of their knowledge that this is caused by functional neurological disorder causes by the combination of stress, trauma and diabetes. She is slowly getting movement back in her legs but still no feeling from the waist down. She is being sent home today after a 13 day stay in the hospital. Her treatment requires she receive PT, OT, a psychologist and enrollment in the "Best Program". Due to being out of work, co pays for her stay in Rochester and my recent recovery from my own medical bills She is in a hardship.
