Lahaina Fire, Acevedo Family
Donation protected
Life was a dream for my family on Maui for over 30 years – sunsets that painted the sky, beach waves and a community that embraced us as family. But suddenly, their lives were flipped by a ferocious fire, leaving them minutes to escape with only each other.
The home that held our laughter, the memories that painted our walls, and the jobs that sustained us – all vanished in the blink of an eye. The town we called home is now unrecognizable, its vibrant streets replaced by haunting silence and destruction. The flames devoured our home, our memories, and our jobs, leaving us with nothing but ash and uncertainty.
To complicate things, my parents may not have the opportunity to get federal support or help from insurance to cover getting back all they've lost. We're not asking for much, just a chance to rebuild what the fire took from us. Your support, no matter how small, will be a lifeline to us. It will provide us with shelter, food, and the first steps towards regaining our footing.
The island's spirit of aloha has always thrived in unity, and now we need that more than ever. This isn't just about donations; it's about the human connection. Together, we can weave a new chapter, one of resilience and strength. Please stand with us in this uphill battle. Your kindness will be the cornerstone as we rise from the ashes, ready to embrace life's unpredictable journey once again.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Acevedo family
