Lahaina Fire Recovery Fund for Kevin, Tasha, Baby
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Lily. I’m fundraising on behalf of my cousins Tasha and Kevin who experienced a total loss in the Lahaina wildfires on August 9th. They fled their home with only what they could carry, their dog Brandy and cat, Oso.
Tasha is eight months pregnant and was supposed to be celebrating her birthday that day. Instead, she and Kevin fled to higher ground. They are waiting to return but expect to find that everything they owned was completely decimated by the fire — including all of the gifts from their recent baby shower.
The historic harbor is gone. The homes that lined it. The restaurants. Their livelihoods and the livelihoods of their community. The magnitude is unimaginable, especially with no safety net and a baby due any day now.
Kevin and Tasha are active members of the Lahaina community. Kevin is a boat captain for Makai Adventures, a small family-owned whale watching, snorkeling, fishing and charter boat company. The boat Kevin captained was lost in the fire, leaving him with an uncertain future income. Tasha works as a server and bartender and hostess at the local Honu restaurant. No one knows if it’s still standing.
When not working, Kevin would take out his own boat to catch fish for family and friends, and to sell at local restaurants. We don’t know if the boat, which Kevin rebuilt himself, survived the fire.
In short, Kevin and Tasha must now start from scratch.
I hope you’ll give anything you can to help them to replace their belongings and set up a new home for their growing family. There is no time to waste as they look to rebuild along with the rest of their close-knit community.
Thank you for your support!
