Lahaina fire recovery fund for Yuriko Egi

UPDATE 9/14:
My family has finally found long-term housing in Honokowai, just outside of Lahaina. They are incredibly relieved to have a place to settle and restart their lives. The economy has been negatively impacted, and it will take years to rebuild as a community. However, with your support, they were able to fulfill their immediate needs, from a toothbrush and clothes to pots and pans. I may sound like a broken record, but we are extremely appreciative of everyone’s support. Thank you!!! ❤️
UPDATE 8/25:
Thank you for your ongoing support! My family is in the process of moving from one house to another. Fortunately, they will be utilizing a short-term rental provided by the Red Cross starting this week. Unfortunately, Lahaina is still facing significant challenges, including contaminated water and land, as well as unpleasant odors. Both the government and the insurance company have been slow to respond, but we remain hopeful that we will be able to rebuild what we have lost.
UPDATE 8/17:
Thank you so much for the overwhelming support! Your donations are promptly utilized for housing, clothing, and other basic necessities. My family is currently on a continuous search for a stable place to settle down and regain a sense of normalcy for the long term. With thousands of people displaced, the process ahead is a bit challenging. Presently, they are staying with a kind-hearted family in Haiku, about an hour away from the chaos.
The primary concern they face is the uncertainty surrounding their future. It has already been a week, and the response from federal, state, and military authorities has been frustratingly slow. The bulk of the relief efforts are being carried out by local communities. Additionally, they still cannot return to their property to salvage what's left. The road to recovery will be long, but your thoughts and support are incredibly meaningful to us.
UPDATE 8/12:
Thank you so much for your generosity!! Words cannot describe how grateful we are. Your kindness has lifted my family’s spirits and provided a sense of comfort, knowing there’s a cushion to help them get back on their feet.
We have contacted the home insurance and have applied for FEMA/disaster relief, but we are still in the dark regarding when and how much we will receive from them. It will be a long recovery ahead, but all of your thoughts and prayers have been a bright spot! Once again, we truly appreciate your prayers and donations. God bless!!
Hello everyone,
My name is Junichiro Egi, and I’m reaching out to you today on behalf of my mother, Yuriko Egi and my sister, Yukako(also her dog Po). They have recently faced a heartbreaking loss. Their home on Maui was consumed by a devastating fire, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Currently, they are staying with friends, but this is not a sustainable long-term solution.
Your donation will go directly towards providing them with the necessary resources to find a new place to live, replace essential items, and start the process of healing and recovery. Your support will not only help them get back on their feet but also provide them with a renewed sense of hope for the future.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in their lives. Your thoughts, prayers, and financial assistance are greatly appreciated by our family.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for your consideration. Your support means the world to us.
