Maui Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund

Will you join us in making a difference? We're raising money to benefit members of the Lahaina Hongwanji Mission and relief efforts on Maui in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires of August 2023. Lahaina Honganji Mission is a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist Temple of the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii, and any donation will have an immediate impact.
Lahaina Hongwanji Mission, including the oldest Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji temple on Maui, classroom building, and minister residence, was destroyed in the horrific fires that devastated the historic Lahaina town in August 2023. Many temple members have been forced to evacuate, and many homes have burnt to the ground.
All proceeds will go directly to the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii, a 501(c)(3) non-profit religious organization to support Lahaina Hongwanji and relief efforts on Maui. The Office of the Bishop and the Social Concerns Committee of the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii will administer the funds and prioritize addressing the immediate and short-term needs of the temple member families displaced by the fires and supporting the greater community as it rebuilds. The Committee will select reputable relief agencies and organizations to ensure your donation directly aids those impacted by this disaster.
With roots that extend back to 1889, Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii is one of Hawaii’s most influential religious communities. Today we offer Jodo Shinshu Buddhist spiritual growth, learning, and service to the community through temples, affiliated schools, volunteers, and charitable organizations across the state of Hawaii.
