Lahaina Recovery fund for Brandon & Angel

Aloha,

My name is Brandon Harris. I lived in the Wahikuli neighborhood with my girlfriend, Angel, our 2 dogs Marley & Buddha, and our 2 cats, Luna and Blue. We were forced to evacuate our home on August 8, 2023 due to the Lahaina fire.

The day of the fire, we had no electricity and phone reception. I left work early around 3pm and saw the fire behind our home. We quickly gathered a few items and made sure that our family members were safe and ready to leave. As soon as we heard the explosions around 4pm and fire getting closer, we didn't want to waste no time especially since we didn't have any gas. Our main concern was to get our pets in the car and ready to go. We wanted to make sure we would be prepared to run with them if we had to. Unfortunately, one of our cats, Mochi got scared and ran away while we were evacuating.

We were shown videos and pictures of our home. It was completely destroyed and burned to the ground. Once we were able to get enough gas, we drove towards our home and it was now blocked off by the national guard. We were not allowed in to look for our cat or look for anything in our property.

We stayed at the Napili Market parking lot for the first couple nights, then stayed at one of the units that I currently was remodeling for my job. My brother in law then got us a place to stay at the hotel for a couple of nights. After that, we moved to another location where I will be remodeling next. The owner of the unit has given us until the end of October.

We are currently looking for a permanent place to stay with our pets. Our business, C x A Workshop Lahaina, has also been destroyed in the fire along with all our tools, and do not know when we can rebuild. We are asking for any help in finding us a place to call home again. Thank you to all that has blessed us with clothes and food. We appreciate all that have reached out to check on us and donated. Our prayers go out to all that have lost a loved one or are still missing and to the first responders.
