Lahaina Wildfire Disaster Relief

UPDATE 8.12.23:
Massive massive thank you to everyone that’s donated, shared & interacted in this effort. The only reason it works is because of people like you!
Edgar & fam have been working around the clock making supply runs utilizing boats from the business his father, Benny Rodriguez works for. They’ve been focused on acquiring fuel for generators, propane, water, food & clothes for those who’ve been devastated just as badly as Edgar has. Keep in mind Edgar has no job. Nobody really does. They all burned down. If we make this goal or exceed it, Edgar is already planning on distributing funds to as many people as he can. This isn’t just for Edgar, it’s for all of his Ohana.
On another note, I’ve made an Instagram Reel in the hopes of going viral. Edgar & I have always bonded over a band called “The Black Keys”. Their music is sort of a soundtrack to our friendship. 2 weeks before before this tragic event took place. Edgar bought plane tickets to come home to KC & watch The Black Keys play at the Starlight Theater with myself & other friends on Aug 25th to kick off his 30th birthday celebration on the 27th. Obviously things have changed quite a bit, but if we can hit this goal or exceed it, I think Edgar will have a much easier time deciding if he can pull away from all the intense disaster relief he’s been volunteering for to celebrate this monumental 30th birthday he deserves SO MUCH. If you can’t support the effort financially, consider sharing or commenting @theblackkeys on the reel to help make it go viral!
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done so far folks, it’s a beautiful thing when family & friends band together for an honest effort such as this. ❤️
With love & gratitude,
-Matt

The recent wildfires in Lahaina Hawaii have devastated most of the town. Edgar Rodriguez, his mother Veronica Rodriguez, his father, Benny Rodriguez, his sister Jackie & her young child were forced to evacuate from their home. Unfortunately, Edgar's place of work, his home & vehicle are a complete and total loss. It's going to take time for government aid to assist their financial situation. Edgar & his family will need money in the interim to make ends meet, pay bills, find temporary shelter, and replace critical belongings. Anything helps, Edgar and his family are one the kindest, hardest working, and most generous humans I know. I'm beyond grateful to have them in my life, while we might not share the same bloodline, they're family to me in every way imaginable. Please find it in your heart to donate and help my best friend and his family, we love all of them dearly, and any kind of contribution will help immensely.
All funds will be directly transferred to Edgar and his family to aid in all aspects of their recovery.
Thank you so much ❤️
