Lahaina Wildfire Relief for the Vasquez Family
Donation protected
Please join us in helping Jojo and Eliza Vasquez and their family rebuild their lives on Maui. We are so heartbroken to share that, like so many others, they lost their home and all their belongings in Lahaina due to the raging fires that devastated West Maui on August 8. Their house was competely burned to the ground. Most importantly, the Vasquez family is safe now. But as you can imagine, this will take a severe emotional and financial toll on them. They need support with your donations to help get them on their feet and start the long journey ahead. The funds raised will go directly to Eliza and Jojo to assist in getting their immediate essentials, replace belongings, acquire housing, and take the necessary steps to rebuild their lives.
Thankfully, their restaurant Fond in Napili was not directly affected by the fires, but that does not mean their business will not be severely impacted. With infrastructure still unstable and tourism on pause for the foreseeable future, they will need support to keep things afloat. Additionally, their daughter Josie is set to start her first year of college in Los Angeles. This transition should be an exciting time for her.
About the Vasquez family:
Jojo and Eliza tied the knot on Maui in 2004 and officially moved to the island in 2005 as Jojo’s career as a chef was blossoming. They’ve since built a beautiful life with their two amazing kids Josie (18) and Jonas (15). Together they have been a force in the community, bringing joy to others with their service, kind gestures, and talents. They always make others feel loved, taken care of, and well-fed. In 2019 they made their dream a reality to open their own restaurant, Fond. They managed to survive and face the tough challenges in the COVID pandemic. Through all that they still continued to support local families and fellow restaurant owners.
They give so much of themselves to their community, those they consider family, and now it’s our turn to show them our love and support. The community they’ve called home for the past 18 years is forever changed, but let's come together to help them rebuild, so they can once again feel a sense of renewed hope, peace, and normalcy.
Mahalo!
(My name is Jeanne, and I’ve been best friends with Eliza for almost 3 decades. We are godmothers to each other’s sons. We are family, and our kids call each other cousins. They have been there for my family in more ways than I can ever describe)
