Hi, my name is Laila Aleah McIver and I am a participant in the 2019 Cotillion Scholarship Program sponsored by the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc. which is a national non-profit service organization that was founded more than One Hundred and eleven years ago! This organization is very involved in the community and work closely in the lives of young people. Over the next two months, I, along with other students from schools throughout Horry County, will participate in educational workshops, service projects and bonding activities that positively reinforce critical self-esteem principles and leadership skills that will last a lifetime. Your financial support helps the organization sponsor these activities, provides quality programs and awards substantial scholarships to deserving students.
It is a life long dream of mine to be crowned Miss AKA Debutante. This honor goes to the student that raises the most donations. I am currently a junior, enrolled at the Academy of the Arts, Science, and Technology. I am the daughter of Dr. Winston D. McIver, Jr. and Atty. Angela Graham McIver. At school, I am a member of the Beta Club, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, English Honors Society, Science, and Science Honors Society. I am a member of HOSA. I serve on the Student Improvement council and I run track for Carolina Forest High School. I am a HOBY Ambassador and spend much of my time volunteering for various non-profit organizations. I am also very active in my church where I serve as a choir member and usher.
