Lainey Jo’s Journey

My name is Emily Murphy, and I’m fundraising for my brother Michael, his wife, Dani, and their sweet, baby girl, Lainey, born at just 27 weeks.

Dani and Michael went in to the hospital as Dani was having some cramping. They found out she was in preterm labor at 27 weeks along of pregnancy and were transferred to Bryan in Lincoln. Contractions were initially stopped and managed but returned and labor progressed.

After 4 days in the hospital, Dani and Michael welcomed their baby girl to the world. Lainey Jo made her early debut on July 13, 2023 at 10:44am and weighed 2lb 4oz. She was immediately taken to NICU for evaluation and supportive care. She came out fighting and has been doing so well ever since.

Lainey Jo lives in an incubator with heat support, oxygen and breathing support, IV fluids, stomach tube, and other necessary medications. She will likely be in the NICU for 2-3 months as she continues to develop. The doctors have all been encouraged by her progress so far and have said that she needs to grow her way out of the NICU.

Michael and Dani live in Seward, a little over 30 minutes from the hospital and are having to travel back and forth to be with their sweet girl.
