Lake Anna Boat Fire - Samantha and Philip's Recovery

Hello, I am Samantha's mom. Sam and Philip have asked me to set up a go fund me account to help them with their expenses while Philip is not going to be able to work for at least a month. Philip sustained bad burns on the bottoms of his feet up to just above his knees from the boat fire at Lake Anna on Friday 7/5/2024. He was taken to a local hospital and then transported to VCU. Samantha was airlifted to VCU and is still at the critical care burn unit in Richmond with serious burns on the majority of her legs, her arm, and her fingers. After scrubbing her burns it was determined that her burn areas are too large to receive the new fake skin so the doctors are evaluating her wounds closely each day to see if she will need to have skin grafts while keeping them clean from risk of infection.

Sam and Philip have loved taking the kids out on the water and are experienced boaters. This traumatic freak accident of a vaper lock took a planned family fun evening with friends to go watch fireworks into a nightmare after they fueled up the boat.

Thankfully everyone survived! My grandson did have some superficial burns similar to a sunburn but thankfully has no serious injuries. A family friend also sustained some 2nd degree burns on her arm and leg. The other family friend and their son thankfully escaped with no physical injury. We all are just so thankful this was not worse!

Philip does not have medical insurance however right now the kids are just asking for help with regular bills and monthly expenses for them and their kids while Philip cannot work. They lost the boat and everything that was on it like their fishing stuff etc. but none of that matters... they thankfully did not lose their lives!!!
