Lake County Florida Confederate Statue Awareness

Donation protected
The Lake County Historical Society and Lake County Commission have decided to import and install a Confederate Monument in our county.

We believe that this Jim Crow era monument created by the Daughters of the Confederacy in 1922 is not representative of the current values of our community.   In August of 2019 nearly 500 Lake County citizens gathered in a peaceful protest march to let our officials know that they are not acting in our best interest.  Our elected our officials are not listening to the voices of the people in the county and are moving forward with their plans.

Please help us spread the word to our community - we do not want this monument in our county!  It belongs to the State of Florida and should continue to represent the entire state at either in Olustee at the Civil Ward Battlefield State Park or the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee.

We plan to purchase newspaper advertising, Facebook posts, or billboards in the community as our budget allows.    We may also enlist legal help to resist this installation.
