Lake District AC Track Fundraiser
Our club is almost 10 years old; we need a home of our own and we need your help to build it.
Please sponsor "A metre of the track"
Proposed Track at The Green in Ballinrobe.
LDAC is based in Ballinrobe but its membership encompasses all of the Lake District areas in North Galway and South Mayo. Up to now, we have been grateful to use other clubs’ facilities to train. To make this project a reality we are asking for your help.
Please consider becoming a patron by "Sponsoring a Metre of the Track for €100" . Any donation of €100 will be automatically assigned one metre of track. All patrons names will be displayed at the facility.
Alternatively contribute what you can. Any donation would be very much appreciated.
Further Information
The 200m running track will be the future home of the Lake District Athletic Club whose many athletes of age six years and upwards will enjoy the buzz of being on an athletic track. This new track facility will incorporate 6 x 100m sprint lanes, a long jump pit and a throws area.
Despite the lack of facilities, our club has excelled beyond all expectations in our short existence. We have won over 100 National Medals, 5 National record-breaking performances and 6 international, an incredible feat for the athletes and wonderful coaches in our club. We also won the Mayo Juvenile Club in 2018 and 2019.
This is a facility for the whole community, the people of South Mayo and North Galway will benefit from this for generations to come. It is envisaged that many community groups, schools and individuals will be using the facility for training and recreational purposes. This track will be the finishing touch to a fantastic facility that already provides the Lake District community with a rugby pitch, a soccer pitch, an astro pitch, a playground and a fully lit walkway.

Please note that a Certificate of Approval of a Sports Capital Project under (Section 847A of the Taxes Consolidation Act) has being issued to our club in respect of this project on 9 November 2020. This will allow us to claim tax relief on any individual donations of €250 or more in a year. For more information on this, please contact Helen Gibbons who is the treasurer of our club.
