Help the Johnsons keep their home this December
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kevin and I'm fundraising for Lakeisha Johnson and her family to make sure they don’t lose their housing in Stone Mountain, GA. I met Lakeisha while knocking doors talking to voters in Georgia. She shared her story with me and I was drawn to her genuine, kind soul.
Her family needs help right now to ensure they’re not without a home this Christmas.
I want to share her story because I know that together, we can help.
Lakeisha is a mom of three and the Johnson family was hit hard by COVID-19; after being laid off from her job due to her employer going under, her oldest daughter was hospitalized on a ventilator and diagnosed with COVID-MISC, which causes seizures in children. Her daughter still suffers from seizures to this day.

As her family has fallen on hard times, Lakeisha and her kids are at risk of losing their housing. The apartment ownership group has changed property management companies three times and have raised rent $500 over a 5-month span.
She's offered to pay over 70% of her outstanding rent immediately to the property management company that took over their apartment complex — they declined — and eviction proceedings were filed. They could be evicted and without housing at any point this month.
Ms. Johnson is a hard worker. She currently works as a medical courier but has a background in Marketing, Events and Sales, as well as Theatre, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. She is actively looking for stable, remote work to be able to provide care for her daughter, who still suffers from seizures as a result of COVID-MISC.
When we met, she wasn’t considering voting in this election. After we talked, she decided to vote and contacted her elected officials to address the current housing crisis. She wants to see laws passed to allow partial rent payments in times of hardship, and accountability measures to stop price gouging on corporate-owned housing, but that takes time.
Please help me in supporting the Johnsons this holiday season and ensuring they have stable housing as we head into the new year.
The money will be used to pay any past rent due and hopefully help cover rent for a month or two ($1650/month) so that Lakeisha can work towards finding a better job that allows her to take care of her kids.
The Johnsons are also looking for a home to rent and/or rent-to-own. Any assistance (if you’re local to Georgia) would be greatly appreciated.
