LAKELAND - BORN OF FIRE AND ICE. SHAPED BY WATER

Donation protected
My name is Terry Abraham and am a multi-award-winning filmmaker and photographer. I'm also the Director and Producer of the hit BBC 'Life of a Mountain' series; three films featuring a year in the life of mountains Scafell Pike, Blencathra and Helvellyn located within the Lake District National Park and the recently critically acclaimed 'Cumbria's Red Squirrels'.

With your kind help and support I plan to begin pre-production/production of my most ambitious documentary to date; 'Lakeland - Born of Fire and Ice. Shaped by Water.'

This documentary will feature never before seen footage of the Lake District National Park as I take viewers on a journey following a rain drop from the summit of England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike and out to the sea.

Featuring a wide variety of subject matter that includes geography, wildlife, people and weather I'm certain the documentary will prove to be both educational and inspiring for people of all ages as it concerns a story that has and continues to effect us all on many levels.

I work independently of production media, preferring to make documentaries where I have free creative control and can express new ideas and share authentic tales and voices from people and places.

I've agreed to a partnership with the BBC for the project which is subject to approval but the offer means I still have to raise significant sums to enable full creative editorial control. Any involvement from the BBC will likely not happen until several months from now.

However, I do have a proven track record of success with my independently produced documentaries featuring the beautiful county of Cumbria of which I'm fortunate to call my home. Additionally, my documentaries excelled with regards to viewing figures and national critical acclaim having won many prestigious awards and have been much imitated since by other production companies and TV channels.

I always go the extra mile and then some when producing my documentaries, being out most days in all weathers and seasons endeavouring to capture Cumbria at it's most inspiring and dramatic best - it's my trademark some will say.

Due to the ambitious nature and technicalities involved with the documentary, along with local and national support from various bodies and charities, I do need support in acquiring or renting specialised equipment. There'll be fees to pay at times to due to the nature of the production and travel and accommodation costs too.

I'd dearly love to share more details and information about the documentary but I'm determined as usual to keep things as a surprise and reveal all once the documentary is completed.

It'll take me 2 years to produce and that includes the editing, sound mixing and working with my long time friend and composer Freddie who'll as usual produce an original orchestral score.

BBC Radio Cumbria's Helen Millican will also be narrating my script for the documentary too.

I will continue to work part-time at an outdoors education centre in the Lake District though as a safety net for funding for life at home but also the documentary too.

As usual you'll be able to follow the documentary's progress including insights into my work via my social media - particularly Facebook. You may even see or hear me in local and national media too as I'm regularly featured for my films or volunteering work.

Please note, unfortunately, I don't have any valid in-date identification for this campaign so any funds raised will go to my wife where the funds will be automatically transferred to my business account for producing my work.

Your kind support and generosity will enable to light the burners and begin producing the documentary.

I intend to begin pre-production imminently and have recently been experimenting with various cameras to test and try out certain shots - some of which you can see in the teaser video.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page and I do hope you can support me.
