Lakeview Awesome Opossums to Global DI finals!

This amazing group of 4th and 5th graders from Lakeview Elementary School in Robbinsdale recently won first place at the Minnesotal Destination Imagination tournament. They worked for months to learn and grow as a team and to gain creative problem solving skills that helped them create a skit inspired by a work of fine art (Minneapolis's own Spoonbridge and Cherry at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden). They wrote the script, designed and built the set, planned costumes, and executed it all with enthusiasm and joy. They epitomize the Lakeview IB learning emphasis - risk takers who are confident learners who want to positively impact the school and community.

With the win, the Awesome Oossums have been invited to compete at the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Kansas City, MO. They will have the chance to interact and learn from fellow students from across the country and around the globe!

This is a huge commitment for the families who will need to take time away from work to travel with their kids. We are raising funds for several things so that each family could have the opportunity to bring their kid to the DI Global Finals.

Two biggest costs:

1. Team registration fee - $5500

2. 3 nights in a hotel for 8 different families/coaches, estimated at $250 per night - $6000

Additional costs would include gas for the drive to Kansas City as well as required background checks for each family member attending.
