3 years ago, 19 year old Lakyn began saving horses from meat auctions. Her love & compassion culminated into a horse & animal rescue, Furvivors Wonderland. She has saved, rehabbed & rehomed countless animals, most of whom were able to receive love for the first time in their lives.

In the beginning of December, Lakyn was driving as a deer jumped out in front of her. She swerved to miss the animal & was catapulted into a near fatal car accident. The rescue team had to cut her out of the crumpled truck.This resulted in a broken foot, removal of her spleen & part of her pancreas, along with kidney function & platelet concerns. As I type this (beginning of February 2024), she has been home for a few weeks. After 3 weeks in the hospital (including her 22nd birthday on Christmas Eve), she still needs a lot of care. Her mom, JoJo, is injecting her meds 4 times a day. There are physical therapists, nurses and occupational therapists that check on her. Her pancreas is STILL leaking fluid, so that is being measured & analized daily. Her white blood cells, platelets & hemoglobins are all off & being monitored closely. Her broken foot prevents any weight bearing on it for another 2 weeks. Currently, there are 37 animals at the rescue, awaiting her return.
