Lana's World Scout Jamboree Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Lana and I am 13 years old.

I have been fortunate to have been selected as part of a unit of 36 young people from Cambridgeshire to attend the world scout jamboree that is being held in Korea in 2023. To be selected I had to write an application letter and attend a selection day in December. On the selection day, I met lots of new people and carried out activities to show how I work as part of a team and get on with others.

Going to Korea will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. I am looking forward to being immersed in Korean culture as well as the opportunity to learn new skills and meet people from all over the world.

I have been part of the scouting community ever since I started in beavers aged 6. I love the opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone, learn new things and to make new friends.

The theme of the 2023 jamboree is ‘Draw your dream’ and about having a sustainable world. I believe that it is now down to this generation to help save this beautiful planet since there is no second chance. As this is the theme for the jamboree, I will be trying my hardest to use all reusable items and things during my fundraising.

As part of my journey to get to the jamboree I need to raise £3,895. This includes transport, practice camps, equipment and also some of it goes to countries who may need some help financially so that they can attend.

In order to raise the money needed, I will be holding lots of events such as I will be doing sponsored events such as a 5k run. Also, I will do some babysitting, bake sales, and helping out at community events. I appreciate any donations you can give.
