In Memory of Lance Pence

I know I’m one of the countless number of lives Lance touched. Whether it was through the outstanding care he provided as a nurse, being an advocate for families, mentoring SO many in healthcare, his fatherly advice, carrying on a conversation literally about any topic, bringing the calm to most stressful situation, or the inspiring love that was always evident he felt for his wife, Tara, and family. Lance loved caring for patients, hunting, anything outdoors, spending time with his dogs and family, and being a modern-day & gifted Mr. Fix It. He even would bring his talent and creativity to rig things or make something easier in the nursing world, one day even whipping out a literal wrench from his bag at Reid on the spot to solve a problem. It has been obvious by the rapid visibility in social media displaying our flag at half mass on the Reid campus and/or memorial ribbon as so many’s profile pics, Lance was extremely well respected and impactful in our community!

For those who do not know, Lance passed away unexpectedly at Reid at the young age of 53 around 2am April 9th. This has shaken his family, work family, friends, and community as we mourn such a tragic loss.

So many have been reaching out on what they can do or how to help. Therefore, with permission, I have started this Go-Fund-Me effort. The funds raised here will go directly to his wife Tara to use for whatever she needs during this tragic time. The reality is bills pile up quickly when you suddenly drop your household income in half. Additionally, Lance was in the middle of a kitchen remodel in the home he built for he and Tara. Tara currently has a non-functional kitchen outside of the microwave and will need to contract work out for completing it. Therefore, we are trying to raise money to take at least some financial burden off of this also, equally amazing nurse who has just lost the love of her life! They were an example that “fairytale” love exists and were inseparable!

If you are able, please consider donating! Every single dollar counts and adds up! In Lance’s honor, let’s take care of his family as they were always his priority! If you can or cannot donate, please everyone continue to keep this family in your prayers!
