Land for Sohag Swapnadhara Pathshala
Donation protected
In 2006, I had the amazing opportunity to spend 5 months in Dhaka, Bangladesh as part of a HECUA exchange program. I lived with a wonderful host family, explored the concept of sustainable development, and got to do an internship at a fabulous organization that focused on education, public health, and community organizing in Dhaka's slums.
After my program ended, two close friends that I made during my internship created their own school, bringing their vision and passion for educational opportunity to life. They named the school Swapnadhara, which means "the dreamer." I had the chance to visit again in 2008, when Swapnadhara was just beginning. It was so inspiring to see this dream realized!
In the years since, one of those founding friends has tragically died. The other, Shagorika, has worked tirelessly to keep their dream of providing free access to education alive. The school has grown significantly, even through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Shagorika hopes to purchase land so that the school can build its own facility, establishing a permanent community presence.
The total amount needed to purchase the land and start constructing the new building is $10,000. I will match all donations up to $5,000. Thank you so much for your support!
