It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of John and Amy Ewell's baby boy Landon Pierce Ewell. They were beyond excited to find out they were expecting their third baby in February and joyously shared the exciting news to all they knew.
Landon was born at 38 weeks on October 14, 2016 at 4:44pm to his loving parents and siblings Luke (4 yrs) and Emma (2 1/2 yrs). Prior to Amy's delivery at the hospital, her and John expected to welcome his special soul into the world knowing their time with him would last a brief moment on earth before saying goodbye.
Throughout the past nine months Amy was given sensitive and respectful proper prenatal care and support by perinatologists, pediatric cardiologists, a psychologist and OB/GYN as it related to Landon's diagnosis and Amy's well being the anticipatory grief caused on her, John, Luke and Emma. At 22 weeks along, exam results confirmed and told to them by specialists that Landon was diagnosed with a chromosomal abnormality with midline defects (severe heart defects), thus the outcome would be fatal and would cause their baby to only live a brief moment after birth, if he was lucky to get that far. Amy and John chose to focus on Landon's quality of life rather than quantity and found comfort in that decision.
Though their summer was a very sad journey they continued to seek and recognize the blessings given to them by their loving Father in heaven.
They were blessed beyond measure to hold and love on him for a couple of days and even bring him home from the hospital where he passed peacefully in his father's arms on Oct. 16, 2016 at 2:45am.
If you can, they would greatly appreciate any help with the costs that will come from hospice care, funeral arrangements, burial of baby Landon, hospital bills, specialists, etc.
