On Sunday, July 9th, we lost a wonderful human. For his family, friends, and colleagues there are no words that can make it hurt less. Lands Banks made us all better people. He gave the profession of occupational therapy everything he had for 25 years. He was all heart and had an unwavering belief in the work that occupational therapy practitioners do.

If you are a member of AOTA and you have ever received anything by mail or attended a conference and got that tote bag stuffed with goodies - Lands made that happen.
If you were a volunteer leader and you attended meetings at the national office only to find your favorite snack in the middle of the table, your favorite yogurt at breakfast, transportation waiting out the front door, or meeting materials ready for you to get to work - Lands made that happen.
If you were a colleague he was always there to greet you, if you asked for help he delivered, if he thought you needed to smile he had a joke for you, and on the tough days if you needed a hug - Lands made that happen.

May we honor Lands memory each day by keeping his love alive and doing the hard work because it is the work that needs to be done.

First and foremost, we can start by giving back to his family who shared him with us every day! Lands was blessed with three children and a proud grandpa. Lands was devoted to ensuring the health, safety, and security of his family. We know that Lands would want to make sure that those that called him PopPop have resources to support their continued education and path ahead. Please help us honor Lands memory with a contribution to the memorial education fund so his grandchildren can achieve everything he hoped for.
