Lane O’Shay’s Leukemia Battle
Donation protected
Three year old Lane O'Shay began the fight of his life on June 1, 2022. Sweet Lane has been diagnosed with leukemia. His parents Forrest & Ashley “Nikki” O'Shay are long time residents of the Geronimo/Kingsbury area. Lane has three siblings all under 6 years old.
Parents, Nikki & Forrest, are needing LOTS and LOTS of continued prayers for Lane and his entire family over the days, weeks, months, and years to come. Treatment is 27 months, with the first 6 months being the most intense and crucial. It will be a 5 year process for him to be considered cured of cancer.
We do have a Facebook page we’d love for y’all to follow: https://www.facebook.com/Lane-OShays-Leukemia-Battle-102698759139032/
Funds will cover medical bills, medical supplies, weekly gas trips to the hospital in San Antonio, and anything else related to Lane.
**The complete story of how we found the cancer in that sweet little boy:
Lane is a very sweet, active, and curious little 3 year old. If he’s not goofing around with this siblings, he’s eagerly helping his mom clean or his dad with chores around the farm. He is always in constant motion.
In April 2022, Lane was being silly inside, fell off the couch, and started complaining to his mom about pain while pointing at his collarbone area. His mom took him into the pediatrician to get checked out and they sent him for xrays at Seguin Hospital. Concluding the examination, they were sent home with what they thought was a sprained joint.
A couple weeks later in May, Lane was racing down a waterslide at his sisters birthday party and a kid slid into him at the bottom. He immediately started crying and when he got up you could see his collarbone (same side as “sprained joint“) protruding out. His dad immediately took him to the minor emergency in New Braunfels where they confirmed a fractured collarbone.
Due to him having a major fracture so young, his mom wanted to make sure his growth plates were ok and everything was going to heal correctly. She made an appointment with a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Childrens Hospital in San Antonio, who discovered what she thought was a tumor in the collarbone where Lane fractured it. After more tests, a couple rounds of blood draws, and an agonizing week and a half of waiting, Lane was diagnosed with Pre B-ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) on May 31, 2022 and began treatment the next day.
Lane is currently in the beginning stages of treatment. For a kid who is in constant motion, being tethered to a machine is very frustrating. But he is very strong (just like his daddy!) and will get through this with the help of all of us! As of now, treatment is 27 months, with the first 6 months being the most intense and crucial. It will be a 5 year process for him to be considered cured.
Forrest and Ashley “Nikki” need our support too! They have already been receiving an outpouring of love and prayers and are so appreciative! We are working on fundraising ideas to help them with medical costs, as this is going to be a long journey, so please follow his FB page for more details.
