From 2011 through 2013 This is Geek held multiple LAN gaming events in the Twin Cities. Our biggest event had around three-hundred gamers in attendance.

Unfortunately the cursed IRL monsters took control of us and we had to focus on battling them, employment changes, moving and family life may have put our events on the back-burner, but have never stopped our dreams.

Throughout the years This is Geek has thrown a variety of events and we have never planned on stopping.

That is why we need you. We need you to help us revive the This is Geek Gaming Events and help build a better tomorrow for gamers and geeks across the world.

Our next event is planned for Spring 2015 and we want to make it our best event ever!

That is why we have started a Go Fund Me. For past events we have used our personal earnings to fund the events, and unfortunataly we no longer have the means to do so. We will still be contributing as much as we possibly can towards the events but need your help!

Where the money will go.
Our current budget is laid out at $5000. The majority of the funds will be put towards a reliable venue. The rest will be split evenly for the following.

Networking equipment : At our last event we burned out two of our ethernet switches. We would like to gather a high quality portable LAN kit.
Furniture rental : Tables and chairs are expensive, we want to make sure all event attendees are comfortable.
Prize Support : Along with sponsor provided prizes, we would like to give away one of a kind items such as trophies and t-shirts.
Marketing : We have always used word of mouth marketting for our events. We would like to try something different.
Futureproofing : We want to stick around for years to come. This is the amount we need to make sure we can continue to host great events.

All donations that exceed the required goal, along with any funds raised at the event will be donated to Childs Play, a charity dedicated to putting a controller in the hands of those less fortunate.

What the event will be.
The event will be a FREE two-day long gaming event. We will have console games, arcade games and a local area connection available for up to 200 computers.

There will be a handful of tournaments for popular games like League of Legends, DOTA 2, Super Smash Bros (WiiU / 3DS) and more.

We have always had a large amount of prize sponsors for the events. Coolermaster, Roccat, Thermaltake, TrendNET, Intel and CPU Magazine are a small amount of our normal sponsors.

All rewards will be available at the event.
