Lange Guatemala Mission Trip

Dear Friends and Family,
We have some exciting news! Dan, David and I have been given the most amazing opportunity to join a team from our church on a one-week mission trip to Guatemala! (Please see below for David’s own words about this.) From November 23-30, 2019 we will be teaming up with Hope of Life International to reach out to rural communities in Zacapa, Guatemala. Hope of Life (www.hopeoflifeintl.org ) has a mission to reach out and meet the physical and spiritual needs of the Guatemalan people. We will have the chance to be involved in some of the many Hope of Life ministries, including sharing God's word and love with orphaned children, caring for sick and malnourished babies/children in the hospital on the Hope of Life campus, caring for and spending time with abused elderly in their nursing home on campus, feeding the poor and hungry who work at the near-by garbage dump and assisting in other ministry opportunities that may present themselves during our time there.
As you can imagine, this trip holds special meaning for us. We are getting to do our first mission trip, with David alongside us, serving the people of his home country. We are trying to faithfully follow God’s call to take this trip. Even though it is new to us and way out of our comfort zone, we know that this is a blessing. We are going to be able to give back to the people of the country which gave us so much.
We would love if you would participate in this mission with us. There are two ways that we are asking our friends and family to join us in this journey:
First of all, we would very much appreciate your prayers. Please pray for safe, smooth travel for our team; for God to bless and multiply our efforts as we strive to serve others; for Jacob and Katrina as they “man the fort” at home, spending Thanksgiving with my parents; for good health for the team members as well as our family who are home; and for emotional strength for David, Dan and I as David visits his birth country for the first time.
Secondly, we are asking that you consider supporting this trip with a financial donation. Each team member is responsible for raising $1500 to cover air fare and living expenses for the week, so we three Langes are responsible for raising $4500. If any extra funds are raised above and beyond this, that money will go toward special projects we can do while we are there such as: finance a baby rescue to bring a sick/ malnourished child out of their mountain village and into the hospital at Hope of Life for the care they need, providing shoes to children, financing a well for a nearby village to have clean drinking water, etc. If you would like a tax deduction letter for your donation, I can provide one.
While it is uncomfortable for us to seek this type of support, we are beginning to understand that it is another opportunity for others to take part in the mission in their own way. But please, don’t feel pressured. We covet your prayers above everything. We are stepping out in faith and trusting God to work out /supply the financial resources/details for this trip.

A NOTE FROM DAVID:
Thank you for reading this. I am excited to go on this missions trip for many reasons. Mostly, I am excited to help people and to go back to the country where I was born. I think I will be able to relate well to the children there and will play with them and talk to them about God.
