Hello my Dear Dog and Animal Lovers,

 

I am wagging my tail to have the chance to introduce myself with my life story and to ask you for a big big dog favor.

 

I am Lapo

Twelve years young and probably a mix between an Italian hunting dog Segugio and Spinone.

 

The first four years of my life I spent as a hunting dog with a group of other dogs.

I didn’t like hunting so much and my owner thought me too soft for the job, so I ended up in a dog shelter.

 

I was quite sad being left alone and abandoned, but I was very lucky that the people at my shelter really cared for us and showed me as much love and affection they could, which I am very grateful for.

 

After eight years in the shelter, the unexpected happened. It was late May 2021 and someone came by the shelter and looked at the dog in the cell next to mine. They also opened my cell door, and I ran out as usual to greet our shelter carer.

Something felt different and so comfortable about this guy, so instead of barking at him as I normally do with strangers, I just leaped myself at him and greeted him happily.

 

Four weeks later I moved into my new home in Florence and I can tell you that is has been a roller coaster ride ever since.

I never lived in a home nor shared with someone before, so lots of adjusting happening, which you probably know from your relationships :)

I have now a nice garden to play in and after two months we already went on our first holiday together.

 

I am very very happy these days and so grateful for what happened to me.

However, I am thinking a lot about my old friends in the shelter and all the unfortunate dog and animal souls living in shelters or even on streets around the world.

I want to help change their lives and to make the world a better place for them.

 

Therefore I decided to start Lapo’s Dog Diary to connect all dog and animal souls with all animal lovers around the world.

I will share with you my life journey, how I feel and what I am experiencing.

Hopefully this also brings some joy to you!

 

My goal is to raise as much money as possible to support animal shelters around the world.

Every three months, the newly money raised will be donated to a different shelter in a different country, until we hopefully one day achieve my wishful target.

Each transfer will be openly displayed on Instagram.

 

Please share with me any shelter, in any country, that is close to your heart, so we possibly could include in our global giving back initiative.

 

My global shelter support will start with the shelter where I am coming from, the ENPA Valdarno dog shelter in Cavriglia, Italy.

To start this, the first donation comes from my new life partner Jens, who happily agreed after I told him about my plan, wagging my tale.
