Laptop for Brandon - Bday Surprise
Donation protected
This page is dedicated to a very special boy who deserves a little good in his life :) I hope you read Brandon's story below and feel compelled to help make his birthday wish come true. We're trying to present him with his very own laptop on Sunday, August 9th, just in time for him to start college at SDSU!
Brandon grew up in a single parent household in San Diego's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Money was always tight, but his dad worked whatever jobs he could to make sure Brandon and his brother had what they needed. When Brandon was a junior in high school, his dad was diagnosed with cancer and given only a year to live. After a hard-fought battle, Brandon's dad passed away in October, 2014, unwantingly leaving him and his brother to suddenly fend for themselves.
The loss wasn't easy - Brandon was forced to grow up quick. He learned to pay cell phone bills and the electric, he made sure there was groceries in the house, and he acted as a shoulder for his brother to lean on as they struggled through their first Thanksgiving and Christmas alone.
He also applied to five colleges, and was accepted into all five. He kept up his grades at Lincoln High, and graduated with honors and a 3.8 gpa. He was elected as the ASB class president, and participated in theater and an outdoor leadership program.
Brandon's maturity, humility, and motivation are unmatched by any other 18 year old I've ever met. When asked what he wanted for his birthday, he responded that his family hadn't celebrated birthdays for years, and he wasn't expecting any gifts or cake. When probed, he admitted that he'd really like a laptop of his own. He's been borrowing computers from friends or his school, and he'd like his own to complete coursework in his dorm room when college classes start in the fall.
It would mean a lot to those who know and care about him to surprise Brandon on his upcoming with a new laptop for college. Gifts of any size will help make this possible. Please consider giving this special boy the kind of birthday he deserves!
