Laptops for Education - East Acton Primary School

Do you want to make a difference to a local primary school? We need your help...
East Acton Primary is a small school with a large number of disadvantaged pupils. Often described as a "village school in an urban setting" - the School boasts a close knit community with a diverse group of children.
In recent months the pupils of East Acton Primary have started using Google Classroom as a way to support their home and remote learning. This change of direction has been driven out of the COVID-19 pandemic - which has resulted in many young children, across the world, missing out on the opportunity to be educated. Google Classrooms gives these children the chance to continue their education remotely and from the safety of their own homes.
Sadly, however, many of the families at East Acton Primary cannot afford a personal laptop and their children therefore miss out on the opportunity to learn during these tough times. Some 34% of the children at the School are recipients of the Government "Free School Meals" grant (which is well above the national average), while 74% of the children speak English as their second language (compared to 21% nationally).
Our goal, through this fundraising page, is to raise enough money to buy Chromebooks for the children at East Acton School. Through achieving this goal we will be giving 200 children access to the ongoing, uninterrupted - education they need and deserve. With online learning fast becoming the norm and the threat of another potential lockdown lingering - we want to ensure that all of the children at East Acton Primary have equal opportunity to develop their education at home.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the usual school fundraising events have been restricted. This is at the same time as schools continue to face ongoing budget cuts, making it difficult to provide new computing equipment.
Together with The School and the PTA we are trying to raise £10,000 to buy Chromebooks, that will enable the children to continue their education, uninterrupted, whilst maintaining a safe distanced learning environment within the classroom and from home!
At a cost of £200 per person - we can buy these children the platform they need to have a better life. So please...dig deep.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause. It really does mean so much to the families and community of East Acton Primary.
