Larissa Liver Transplant

Hi, my name is Joan McDonald and I am starting a Go Fund Me for my Daughter-In-law’s sister, Larissa (Ree) Roberts. I consider her as one of my Daughter-in-laws. Larissa has been sick for sometime with Polycystic liver disease and as her condition deteriorated, efforts to find a donor started at Vanderbilt where her insurance sadly would cover none of the cost. After being accepted at Duke as a candidate for transplant the deductible was $7500.00. On 12-24-23 she received a call a match was available at Duke immediately. God answered prayers and the transplant was successful. However, she is still required to remain in a motel close to hospital for 30 days for monitoring and treatment since she lives in Virginia. Her husband, Bruce, had to return to work and her sister, Leisha, is alternating with him for Ree’s care. She will be

required to return often which takes 5.5 hours each way for checkups and treatment. Due to trial and error of medications each pharmacy medicine change requires a copay which several have already had to be paid. Larissa being only 49 years old also had a quadruple bypass in April 2021 which has been a tremendous burden on them already. Larissa will not be able to return to work as a Respiratory Therapist for an undetermined amount of time . Any help you are able to spare at this time would be very much appreciated.
