Larry Alston Community Memorial Fund

It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved friend, Lawrence “Larry” Alston, who tragically passed away at age 58 on 4/29/2024. He passed suddenly and unexpectedly at the gym leaving all of us wondering how this could happen to such a lively and wonderful man.

Everyone that’s ever known Larry knows his smile and laughter lit up every room he walks into.

Originally from New Jersey, Mr. Alston has spent nearly 20 years in the Rio Grande Valley.

In the community, Larry and his wife have been giant figures for years. The couple are part of the local fostering system, giving RGV children a place to live, stability, warm meals and an even warmer household.

He’s touched lives from his work Customs and Border Protection at the border, his church family at TFC McAllen, his friends in the gym, families at the hockey rink. Anyone that’s had just one conversation with Larry knows how hard this loss is on those who were close to him.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Toyka and equally hilarious son, Cameron. This time has been incredibly trying for these two who will need to pick up the pieces on the homefront. Larry was the family breadwinner, working at U.S. Customs.

We created this fundraiser to ease the financial burden on to his wife Toyka and his children Latoya McCoy, Calvin Henderson, Cameron and family.

Please give what you can to the family as they make funeral arrangements far sooner than anyone expected.
