One of our dear friends and community member, Larry Davidson, had a devastating health crisis that almost took his life, put him in medical debt, even with great health insurance, and has left him sorting through the rubble to quickly reconfigure his life.

We are reaching out to each of Larry's Tribes and Communities to ask for your support. After all, community doesn't mean much if we don't come together to help when that help is so desperately needed.

DETAILS AS TO WHAT HAPPENED:

In a matter of days, while vacationing in a rural area of Mexico, Larry Davidson's  life was turned upside down.

Food poisoning triggered a ruptured intestine.

Rushed to medical facility that didn’t even have proper electricity, Larry was given blood transfusions which fortunately managed to barely keep him alive, but did not address the issue at hand, which was a slow poisoning due to sepsis and intestinal leakage which then led to a shutting down of all of his major organs.

Each blood transfusion cost over $600 cash, which needed to be taken as an advance on Larry's credit card. After a few days of excruciating pain and worsening conditions, and as they realized he was getting closer to death, the decision was made to receive an emergency airlift to San Diego where he was immediately rushed into surgery.

Larry endured five days of extreme surgery procedures, including reconstruction of his intestines and revival of his major organs. During this experience, Larry describes how he literally "flatlined", and yet at it was at this very point that he valiantly chose to came back fighting for his life....and his purpose!

The surgery happened in July, and afterwards Larry endured a slow and painful recovery. The damage was so significant, that it was also necessary for him to go through physical therapy to re-learn the privilege of walking and talking again! Larry lost substantial amount of mobility and weight, and even the simplest of everyday tasks were a struggle. He was also left with a colostomy bag, chronic dizziness, tremors, accelerated heart rate and PTSD.

The emergency airlift, blood transfusions, clinical care in Mexico, surgeries, rehabilitation care and lost wages has left Larry with over $25,000 in debt. Whatever you are able to contribute would be of great benefit to our friend Larry, and will be deeply appreciate with love and gratitude.....because that's who Larry is!

A note for future plans, and possible additional support:

Gifted as a writer and educator, Larry plans to write a book and also speak publicly about his life story, because he feels that the experience was a powerful transformative journey. Given a second chance at life has gained Larry wisdom, insight and learning that he knows will help others in their own quest for healing and resilience after great loss, suffering and pain.
