Larry Holmes is writing a book!

I grew up in a small, segregated African American community in the 1950s and 1960s. My life's apparent limitations followed me like my shadow – “You’re not good enough. You won’t amount to anything. Why even try? Everything is stacked against you.”

At a deeper level, however, there was a more substantial, undeniable, and inexplicable feeling inside myself - a more authentic voice. It felt like a more ancient and changeless kind of truth within. That voice reminded me, ‘I am already something and somebody. I can choose to live more fully in my life, following my, as yet, unformed dreams. I can seek a broader set of possibilities – expanding into who I am and what I can be.’ This dream didn't have a logical or rational strategy that I intended to follow. It was simply a genuine and passionate impulse calling me from within. Perhaps you have heard that voice or felt that impulse.

I’ve found that seeing beyond the smallness and limitations that the world so persistently mandates for us is the key to a life of growth and renewal.

Working as a leadership development consultant, sports mental skills trainer, life purpose coach, and meditation teacher for the past five decades has given me the privilege to assist individuals in finding life and career clarity and purpose. Folks often tell me they appreciate my uniquely structured approach to learning, personal growth and leadership skill development. Asking good questions leads to life-transforming insights that enable us to discover our authentic life and leadership purpose. Clarity of purpose provides the focus and meaning necessary to reenergize our life and career, uncovering what some call their "mojo." Many have encouraged me to write a book to enable others to benefit from this approach. I’ve slowly but persistently been writing that book, and, at this stage of life, it's time to finish it.

The book is a collection of stories about the challenging and transformative life lessons shaping my approach to intentional living and leadership. At each critical juncture, especially the low points, someone has brought light to my path and helped me move through or around seemingly insurmountable obstacles. So, bringing me full circle, this book expresses my gratitude to the wise and generous people who have come to my aid along the way.
