Larry’s Bucket List Adventure
Donation protected
You might know him as Larry from the golf course, Larry from the brewery or Larry the minister. I’m lucky because I know him as my dad. However you know him, you love him. He’s funny, smart, thoughtful and caring. A living encyclopedia in a Hawaiian shirt.
About a year ago my dad was diagnosed with a aggressive squamous cell carcinoma of the hard pallet. The tumor was so large that it grew anyplace it could within his facial structure. In spite of an intense treatment of chemo and radiation the cancer has metastasized to his liver, both lobes of his lungs, large and small intestine and various muscles. Needless to say, it’s time to tackle the bucket list. Topping the list is a road trip. He would like to visit West Va and Oklahoma to see where his grandparents were from, Tennessee to see his favorite singer/songwriter John Prine’s old stopping grounds and Route 66 well, because it’s Route 66. We would like to rent a RV so that my dad can take a nap when needed. I estimate about $2,500-$3,000 for the RV rental for 10 days. $2,000-$2,500 for fuel and $1,000 for site seeing and incidentals.
Although I struggled with taking this to the
GOFUNDME platform I finally came to the decision that this is the time to put my pride aside and put my dad first as he has done for me my entire life.
