LASA's Ultimate Frisbee Team Going to NATIONALS!!!!!

The Vertikills players and families are so grateful for the generosity of everyone who stepped up in 3 DAYS to meet our critical fundraising goal. All 22 players will now be able to go to the USNI tournament. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who made that possible.

Several people have asked me whether they could still support our team, and the answer is definitely a big YES! This team has run on no budget since it started in 2006, and there are so many needs throughout the year that their coaches are hesitant to even ask for. The team is not funded at all by the school, so even getting extra practice equipment for the team, extra disks, uniforms for players who need financial help, or fees to attend tournaments is a struggle.

With this game-changing, precedent-setting season, the team is looking forward to training even harder and competing at a national-level tournament next year. The pipeline of players from the Vertikills B-team, C-team, and middle school players all want to turn this legacy into a dynasty, and are excited to work together to keep Vertikills in the national rankings and the national spotlight for years to come, and to encourage other teams throughout Austin and Texas to participate.

Between that goal and the costs already associated with running the team, they would love any extra help they can get!

So we have re-opened the GoFundMe for anyone that wants to help the team continue their success going forward.

If you would like to support these players and their coaches and give them a more solid financial footing going forward, it would make a huge difference in the ability to make the best choices for the team without money always being the first consideration and the deal-breaker for many decisions, even small ones.

ORIGINAL POST: The LASA Ultimate Frisbee team (Vertikills), 2-time defending Texas state champions, participated in the River Campus Classic, a nationals-qualifying tournament in Nashville, TN on April 6-7. No LASA ultimate team had ever competed at this level before, and they had no idea what outcome to expect. Because of all of the hard work they had put in, great leadership from team captains to work toward this goal for over a year, and amazing coaching, they ended up in 2nd place out of 16 teams in Nashville, defeating two top-20 teams, and only losing in the final to the #4 team in the nation.

This impressive showing resulted in Vertikills being selected as one of 16 HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY to go to the High School National Invite in Rockford, Illinois on June 7-8!

The first $1425 bid fee is due in 3 days, on April 12. They only got the invitation at 8pm on April 8th, so it's a crazy scramble to make this happen!

We have 22 LASA students, from freshmen to seniors, on this team. As you might imagine, the players' families are still paying for the expenses from the Nashville trip, so the quick turnaround to pay for another trip will be difficult, and actually impossible for several. These players succeeded as a team, and they don't want to see any teammate left behind. Several players even donated their own money to help teammates cover the costs for Nashville. They have all worked extremely hard and want to be a part of this historic team!

Funds raised will help to cover hotel, bid fee, food costs, and travel.
