Last-Stage Cancer
Donation protected
We have opened this gofundme account to help our friend and colleague Ms. Dyuti Sengupta, who recently graduated with a Ph.D. degree from Oregon State University (OSU) in the USA, which unfortunately lasted for more than 11 years, and has also been responsible for significantly deteriorating her mental and physical health, so much so that she has just been recently diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian cancer (clear cell carcinoma) towards the end of her program. Needing a last-minute surgery to stay alive and someone to take care of her, Dyuti had to give up her job offer and return to India. Despite these challenges, she defended her Ph.D. remotely, proving that she’s a fighter.
However, lady luck has not yet smiled at her. The cancer has metastasized and now is back with a vengeance, leaving her stranded back in India for good. She is also in bad financial shape, as the last two terms of her Ph.D. drained her of the entire bank balance and forced her to return without any savings in hand. Her only true family in India is her mother, who has recently retired. This puts her in a much more terrible financial situation to fight the battles she’s been presented with.
Given a meager six months left to live, Dyuti has been prescribed six rounds of Chemotherapy (amounting to approx. $1500), which may help her celebrate her next birthday in the best-case scenario. She is presently admitted to the Tata Medical Center (Cancer Hospital & Research Center). However, surviving this entire ordeal would require nothing short of a miracle and an experimental treatment in the US that might cost much more ($50,000 or more).
Please help us give this fighter a fighting chance! We appreciate financial contributions of any amount, we are also looking to connect her with a community of fellow survivors and oncologists who can help fight this battle on a psychological front/may have suggestions for treatments that can help her case.
