Latin Women Empower Faces

In honor of breast Cancer awareness month, I am fundraising for the only respite center in the Dominican Republic servicing women getting chemotherapy.

A decade ago my family discovered my mother was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation as she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Ever since, my mothers purpose has been to provide services for Latina women who are undergoing what she went through. My mother had no services that would relate to her as a Latina woman facing this situation.

Since then, Fary De Leon has hosted yearly breast cancer walks and health fairs in order to raise awareness. 10 years later she has now opened F.A.C.E.S a safe haven for women traveling to the only hospital in the Dominican Republic for services. Counseling, advocacy, food and shelter is provided and fully funded by Fary who was once the face of these women.
