Help LaToya walk after Brain Tumor removal

MAY 2023 (6 month update)

Thanks to the generous giving of many, in September 2022 La Toya was able to move to Gainesville FL to start physiotherapy because she became bedridden after the removal of a brain tumor.

There's been massive improvements but therapy sessions and everyday living remain costly; which means we need your continued help. Any donations are very much appreciated and remember to share the link with friends & family that are also able to help this cause.

JULY 2022

Faith is described as the evidence of things you cannot yet see; that is what LaToya has been holding on to when she thinks about walking again. In April 2021 she had a second meningioma brain tumor removed, which unfortunately left her unable to walk or use her feet and left hand leaving her bedridden. Her only working limb is her right hand and she is dependent on her family to take care of her and uses an at-home physiotherapist for passive exercises to keep circulation.

 

LaToya has made it through such difficult times and even celebrated her 40th birthday this past March. Still, after 14 months, there has been little to no progress due to the unavailability of equipment and services at the local therapy facilities, so the family has decided to transport her from Trinidad and Tobago to a Neurological Physio & Rehab Center in Florida. There she will have the equipment and space to get her back on her feet and start this path to recovery with aggressive physiotherapy and treatments. Unfortunately, the cost of travel and therapy for what the doctors are averaging to be one year is turning out to be very high, but LaToya can't live the remainder of her life this way, and we are willing to do whatever is necessary to get her walking again.
