LaToya's Leukemia Tribe

Toya’s Leukemia Tribe.

COVID 19 is lurking in the air and my sweet niece LaToya Campbell, which is my sister’s baby girl fights daily to get her life back to normal after being diagnosed with the disease called “Leukemia.”  LaToya goes by her short name Toya.  She is 31 years old, married to her lovely hubby Shelton Campbell and has a 10-year-old handsome son named Jakari.   She is being treated at the Chapel Hill hospital and has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy.  Although, she has lost all of her hair as most patients do to this disease…. Nothing can stop her or block her from what God has in store for her life.  Just as her hair was beginning to grow back, she was told that she would need to undergo a bone marrow transplant.  Unfortunately, COVID reared its ugly head and her transplant was delayed due to the Corona Virus creeping its way in to the life of the donor.  Although, the family was all on edge—we buckled down and prayed as God would have us do…. finally, a month or so later she was able to receive a bone marrow transplant, which broke down her immune system causing her to become extremely weak.  The battle is excruciating and very difficult at times, but Toya is standing strong on God’s word and is taking one day at a time battling this horrible disease day by day.  We know that this is just a test and yes, it is a very hard one, but with God, we know that she will come out stronger than ever because she is the chosen one for this task.

Toya’s doctor gave her the okay to stay home as long as she has 24-hour care, but her health insurance does not cover nurse’s care, nor will it pay for all of her procedures, treatments and medicines that she needs.   (Yes, it seems so unfair, but with God all things are possible) …And although, she had the okay to go home she still has to go back and forth to get her treatments, which has become a bit expensive.

When putting this together for Toya she was admitted back into the hospital on 5/15/2021 because bacteria started in her Hickman line, which has traveled to her blood.  Our prayer is that God will intervene, cleanse her blood and heal her body completely!

We are Team LaToya strong and proud to be a part of the tribe.  Her mother has been able to stay with her when Shelton is on the road driving the big rig.  When she hurts, we hurt, when she is fighting so are we!  We are not just a tribe but a family connected standing strong on God’s word!  We would love to have you become a part of (LLT) LaToya’s Leukemia tribe.  Your donations of any amount and prayers mean more to us and to Toya than what you will ever know.  God Bless!
