Latu Family

Sebastian Latu took a serious fall on Wednesday, February 13th. His neck and back are the main points of concern. As of today, he has limited feeling and movement in his legs. He has extreme nerve pain, and there is not a clear prognosis for his recovery. He is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, February 20th, at noon.

Sebastian is a man of great faith, giving Glory to our loving God on every step of this tragic, painful, and frightening journey. He and Kerry are raising four wonderful young children – Laiatu, Keleki, Naite, and Aulani. They are hard-working, loving parents. Kerry has been working nights while Sebastian works days. They are doing everything they can to give their kids every wonderful, faithful opportunity, especially allowing Laiatu and Keleki to attend Jesuit High School and play with the most wonderful football and rugby teams around. You can imagine how this has thrown a wrench in their efforts. They are both exhausted, and not sure what the future will hold.

Many of us are taking meals, providing restaurant gift cards, doing anything we can to make this process a bit easier. But we know that the financial piece is hanging over their heads. At this point, they don’t have a sense of what the future will look like in terms of work for either of them. So, we thought we’d set up this site to try to provide a modicum of relief. If you have a bit to share, we think it will offer them some peace of mind and heart.

And, as always, we ask that you keep the Latu family in your prayers. Give them peace and fortitude on this journey. And, while Sebastian knows that pain is his friend, as it represents feeling and sensation, it is also a very heavy burden. We pray for bearable pain, and wondrous, even miraculous, leg recovery. And, may our loving God hold them in His tender, merciful hands as they continue this walk.
