Laura’s Story
Kevin was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in early 2020 after not being able to shift what we all thought was a bad chest infection later learning it was COVID. He had an IUD fitted in November 2022 and sadly lost his battle on June 15th 2023 leaving behind the legacy of his two wonderful children who were his absolute world. Kevin lived life to the full and always told me “wake up and live not knowing if it’s a Wednesday or a Saturday” something he most certainly fulfilled.
Kev, as everyone knows was an extremely fit man, always encouraging me to go for a run with him over the years …..I attempted it twice ….first time I ended up pouting and walking home, the second time, I couldn’t walk for a fortnight tidy….much to his disappointment I vouched never again …..
Until now ……
Kim’s story
I lost my Dad David Bowditch 5 years ago to Cancer shortly followed by mother in law Kay Davies, as you can imagine my family’s world was turned upside down and inside out with the devastation.. whilst I know that nothing can bring them back or fill the gaping hole that they left I’ve strived to do my dad proud at every possible opportunity. To lose a parent to cancer is devastating but to watch a child suffer and potentially lose their life to it is unimaginable. I hope that by running the London marathon for children with cancer it will raise funds for an amazing charity that support families as they go through an indescribable , stressful and heart wrenching experience. If anyone who knows me will know I haven’t run or done much physical activity since leaving school ♀️so to complete 26 miles at 41 years of age I am hoping you dig deep to help an amazing cause, every pound will be gratefully received ❤️
Additional funds behind our target for cardiomyopathy and children with cancer will be donated to Air Ambulance Wales and pancreatic Cancer UK
