Laura Erickson and Horses-Tornado Recovery
Donation protected
Laura, her five horses, one dog, and one cat, survived a direct hit by a large tornado in Carl Junction,MO on May 22, 2019. She rode out the storm under a mattress, along with her little chihuahua and the stray cat to whom she had given shelter two weeks ago. It is never a good sign when your damaged home is featured on national news shows and the weather channel as an example of the severe damage caused by a tornado. The destruction was devastating, and the ensuing 4 inches of rain only made the situation worse. While she is thankful that her 38 year old horse Boots survived along with his buddies, everyone is traumatized and their home destroyed. One horse has a significant wound and is being treated at the vet. Laura is determined to rebuild her combination barn and home, and anyone who knows Laura understands that she will do much of the work herself. In the meantime, she needs to feed and care for these animals to whom she has devoted her very existence. She is currently sleeping in her truck because she will not leave her horses. Laura is an individual who works tirelessly. She is the first one to help others during a time of need, pitch in to work when the load is heavy, or care for any horse or dog that is down and out. Laura is never one to ask for help, but even she is overwhelmed by the magnitude of what has been lost, and what needs to be done to fix it. You may rest assured that whatever you are generous enough to give, not one penny will be wasted. We are three friends that have witnessed Laura's huge heart in action. Help us help her start over!
