Laura get an Attorney for Custody

Hello, My name is Laura.

I am a single mother of 3.

I recently received a petition from my Ex-Husbands current wife for a 3rd party custody hearing.

She is getting a divorce from him and is trying to gain full custody of my Twins. My ex-husband has had a physical placement for the last ten years due to my insufficient funds for a better attorney, and I ended up getting burned by his family business attorney. His current wife feels that since she has been in my kid's life for the last five years, she has rights to them. I just learned that my ex-husband has become chemically dependent on Meth again, which prompted her divorce, and now my immediate struggle is to get an attorney to gain full custody of my children.

I do not have a retainer fee for an attorney, and they only gave me 21 days from 10/4/2022 to respond to the petition. There is a court date set to happen in MN on November 30th.

Every attorney I've spoken with has a retainer fee of $3500 and roughly $350/hr.

Any help is welcome. Every cent goes a long way, and I hate to admit that I am desperate, and my babies need to be back with me, their mother.
