Laura Key

I am fundraising for Laura Key. Laura is a longtime employee of Conservation Park in Charles City, VA, & was born and raised in Providence Forge, VA.

In 2020, Laura was diagnosed with multiple menigiomas. These are tumors that grow out of the lining surrounding the brain & spinal cord. Generally these tumors are non cancerous & slow growing & do not require medical intervention.

Since being diagnosed, Laura has undergone several MRI’s & began experiencing symptoms that indicated that at least one of the meningiomas was growing substantially & causing loss of vision. Due to the proximity of the suspected meningioma to her optic nerve, surgical removal is not recommended, so Laura will undergo 5 1/2 weeks of daily radiation treatments to hopefully stop the tumors from growing further.

Laura & her family are hopeful that she has no adverse effects from the treatments. Potential effects range from fatigue, nausea, hair loss & headaches just to name a few.

The treatments, although covered by insurance, are very costly so she will have a large deductible & coinsurance responsibility.

Laura is such a caring & supportive person to her friends & family. It is my hope that we can give back to her, to relieve some of her stress and worry during these treatments, and help cover some of her medical costs & expenses as she undergoes treatment.
