Update: To all who contributed, thank you for your generosity. Colleen Cosgrove, one of Laura's closest and dearest friends, has kept contact with Mike and Katelyn and is ensuring that the family receives all of these funds. On behalf of the family, thank you so much! I'm sure Laura is smiling and making some joke about all of us.
If you ask Laura’s friends, they will tell you she was one of a kind. She was fiercely devoted to her family, especially her children. One only needs to look at her Facebook photo albums to see that her primary goal in life to was give her children, Katelyn and Brendan, lasting memories. From trips to the Catskills, Disney World, and LBI, she captured at least 15 years of memories meticulously labeling every trip and event in her children’s lives. There is nothing that Laura would not have done to bring happiness to her family.
For her work friends, Laura was equally devoted to creating lasting relationships. She forgot NOTHING! She spun tales of our years together, constantly reminding us of something funny that happened and who was there. “Remember when” was Laura’s opening to so many conversations and group events. She singlehandedly created lasting bonds among “Summiteers” joining over 250 current and former employees in the spirit of love and community. Our reunions were unmatched, always led by Laura and other colleagues she recruited along the way. Our hearts are shattered as we try to comprehend the future without her presence. It is unbearable. But we forge ahead keeping the traditions she created to keep her memory alive and well for decades to come.
We owe Laura so much. Our debt to her is immeasurable. She was taken away so young and way too early. We have created this fundraiser in her memory and honor to support Katelyn’s and Brendan’s educations. Their education was so important to Laura and our support is a small way we can give back to her for the decades of memories and the community she worked so hard to give to us.
Rest in peace sweet Laura. We love you and miss you.
