Laura MacDonald Seymour & Elizabeth Laura Seymour

On Saturday, October 29th, Laura Seymour went to St. Joseph hospital in Tacoma to give birth to her first baby girl. After 5 boys, she was so excited to have a girl.

Tragically, Laura Seymour experienced Amniotic Fluid Embolism, collapsed into her husband’s arms and lost consciousness. Her body then went into Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, and the bleeding never stopped. Every drop of blood from the Pierce County Blood Bank was used, and some from Seattle too, in attempts to save her. Over 70 medical personnel worked seven hours to bring her back, but she slipped beyond the veil.

Baby Elizabeth Laura was delivered via emergency c-section and rushed to Children's Hospital in Seattle, where they have placed her in neonatal therapeutic hypothermia to help her body recover from the trauma and reduce the likelihood of long-term brain injuries.

We are praying for Baby Elizabeth and her family through this incredibly difficult and tragic time.

Everyone who knows Laura knows she was a force of nature. Matt and Elizabeth need our help. One way you can help is with medical expenses and support for Elizabeth. Please consider contributing to her Go Fund Me.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Update 11/2: Thank you to all those who have contributed to this point! The outpouring of support has been amazing. Elizabeth continues to receive tremendous care at Children’s Hospital and their medical expenses will be substantial. We will continue to accept donations beyond the initial goal as medical expenses continue to rise. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity in helping Elizabeth and her dad through this incredibly unexpected and challenging time.
